Fees for acting on a residential purchase of typical complexity, exclusive of HST are:

• $1,195 for acting on the purchase transaction

• $395 for the preparation and registration of a mortgage (if applicable)

• $295 for reviewing and reporting on a condominium status certificate (if applicable)

Fees are the component of closing costs that your lawyer can control. Other closing costs to budget for include disbursements, title insurance and land transfer tax

• Disbursements typically range between $500 and $700 for a purchase, which includes title searches, couriers, and fees paid to the tax department and the land registry office on a purchaser's behalf.

• $1,195 for acting on the sale transaction

• $195 for the payout and discharge of each mortgage (if applicable)

Fees are the component of closing costs that your lawyer can control. Other closing costs to budget for include disbursements and real estate commissions.

• Disbursements typically range between $400 and $500 for a sale, which includes couriers, bank and software fees, and the Law Society of Ontario transaction levy.

• Real estate commissions will depend on your agreement with your real estate agent.

Drafting Wills and Powers of Attorney:

Fees for wills and estate planning matters can vary substantially depending on individual circumstances. Fees for drafting basic wills and powers of attorney of typical complexity, exclusive of HST and disbursements are:

• $795 for drafting basic wills and powers of attorney for an individual, plus disbursements of approximately $75

• $995 for drafting basic wills and powers of attorney for spouses, plus disbursements of approximately $110
